In 1978 a group of women who wanted an environment that would nurture their writing, engage their
imagination, and strengthen their artistic commitment and who recognized that Pan-Asian American
literature and history needed to be shared with others, came together to form PAAWWW -- Pacific Asian
American Women Writers West. Through open readings, workshops, dramatic readings, the managing
artists of this non-profit group continue to expose new and larger audiences to the cultural richness of
the various Pacific Asian communities.
